Freeman Notes from the Men’s Executive, held at The Mermaid Inn on Friday, 11th October 2012 MINUTES 1. Present: Mike Freeman, Laurie Alcock, Dave Willenbruch. 2. 3. Apologies - Tim Lorimer, John Nightingale, Nigel James, Charles Nash 4. Minutes. 4.1. 3rd February agreed as a true record 4.2. AGM minutes agreed but would be signed at the 2013 AGM 4.3. Staffs AGM minutes agreed but would be signed at the 2013 AGM 5. Matters Arising. None other than agenda items. 6. Report from England Hockey / MRHA. 6.1. Back to Hockey, Hockey Nation, Rush Hockey are current EHB initiatives 6.2. Facilities update – Aldersley LC pitches re being replaced and also understand that the he old pitch at Shobnall may be refurbished., 6.3. St Georges Football Centre is a possible venue for Indoor hockey. LA & DW to investigate. EHB are also considering the venue for possible national indoor. 7. Report from ENER-G League. 7.1. Nigel was unable to attend. He has to take on additional role in running a Midland League due to the untimely death of Guy Millington. 7.2. The League web site had over 1.4 million ‘hits’ last season 7.3. The league was running well with little disruption to date. 7.4. A pleasing increase in Fathom hockey and an increase in the Badgers Fathom with more teams wanting to participate. Now Badgers East and West. 7.5. Agreed that Mac Fullwood be invited to attend Staffs Exec’ to give County support for his work and to consider recognition. 8. Finance 8.1. C Nash reported that the finances were in a healthy position. 8.2. Nine clubs had paid the Staffs affiliation [congratulations to Barlaston, Leek, Lichfield, North Staffs, Old Wulfs, Rugeley, Stone, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton. ALL OTHERS OWE 8.3. Invoices have been sent out and payment due end of October. 8.4. Congratulations to Lichfield as the first Staffs’ Club to affiliate to EHB along with Barlaston and North Staffs. Four clubs had registered for invoices [Finchfield, Leek, Wednesbury and Rugeley 9. Discipline, 9.1.1. No Red Cards notified as yet. 10. Competitions 10.1. County Championships. The Staffordshire XI finished in 2nd place in the “A” Division.[i.e. National Runners Up] . 11. Schools and Youth. Discussion of the format of the S&Y competitions as there is a major constraint with schools getting out of schools for a day tournament, compared with the previous ‘twilight’ time KO format. This prevents many State schools from entering. 11.1. It is important that clubs that are growing have an active schools/club links. Only six Staffs clubs do not have youth sections. 11.2. The major issue is getting an input of hockey into schools. 11.3. Newsletter. It is the intention to issue a comprehensive Newsletter to all clubs and schools to highlight the issues discussed at the meeting. 11.4. Under 19 and Under 21. Exec’ agreed to progress the formation of a Staffs squad to cater for the JAC players who have become too old for the Single System activity. [up to 18 years of age] Ian Morris and Kevin Heath are willing to organise this age group and LA would be issuing invitations to other counties when the minutes of the MRHA Council meeting are issued. 11.5. JDC all four centers in the County area are fully operational. 11.5.1. South East - at Lichfield, Tamworth, Streetly, Barton have 160 members 11.5.2. South West – at Cannock -Jamie Fleet. 11.5.3. Central – at Staffs Uni’ - Mary Moss 11.5.4. Northern centre – at Leek & Newcastle Sch. – Bev Cartlidge. 11.6. Black Country operate at four centres in the south of the county. No information to date. 11.7. JAC start at Christmas. Staffs is one of the few counties that fielded teams in all age groups. 12. Web Site Staffs web site.
